Streamline Achieves ICR Certification with Management Appliance

Streamline Computing has certified that clusters built with the concurrentCOMMAND Cluster Management Appliance are Intel CLuster Ready.

Streamline Computing have verified a reference cluster system using concurrentCOMMAND which will act as a template for customers who wish ICR certification of their cluster.

The concurrentCOMMAND management appliance provides cluster provisioning, monitoring and console access to all Streamline built clusters in an easy-to-use and easy-to-program Web 2 interface. Using Intel Cluster Checker additional custom tests have been incorporated to check that the appliance is correctly configured and metrics are being monitored. The cluster checks can be initiated from within the appliance and tasked at regular periods of scheduled downtime ensuring that the cluster continues to meet ICR compliance and performance.

“With ICR certification, Streamline Computing is now in a stronger position to satisfy our commercial customers who required ease-of-everything in terms of cluster deployment”, says John Taylor, CTO of Streamline Computing. “By providing this functionality via the management appliance means that customers can run consistency checks to ensure that systems are compliant through upgrade cycles of the computing resource”, he added.

The reference cluster used consists of 8 compute nodes and 1 head node based on Dell server hardware with an Infiniband interconnect together with a Scientific Linux 5.3 and Streamline cluster pack integration layer. The cluster has been checked with version 1.3 of the Intel Cluster Checker software. A reference software image for both the front-end and compute nodes is maintained at Streamline ready for provisioning and testing.
